Coaches we have an outstanding speaker set for the May 7th Indiana Wishbone Association Clinic. Coach Tony DeMeo will be speaking all day on the 7th. I've had the good fortune to hear Coach DeMeo speak at other clinics and I am excited about this Clinic. Coach Bridge, as usual has gone above and beyond in securing a great speaker for our clinic.

Make plans now to join us and Coach DeMeo on the first Saturday in May. It will be a great day. Don't miss it.

Apparently there is one reader of the blog. At the State Finals I was accosted by David Burns who asked why I wasn't updating the blog. So David, here it is, the latest entry.

The State Finals were enjoyable as always. Unfortunately no members of the Association were playing. Hopefully we will have a representative at next years finals.

Coach Bob Bridge informed me that he was working on the Speaker(s) for the May 7th Indiana Wishbone Association Clinic. Bridge has another outstanding coach just about sealed for the clinic. If Bob is able to work this out it will be another outstanding clinic. Check back soon to see who it will be.

June 28, 2010

I'm sorry that I didn't make this entry until Monday but once I got home sitting back and doing nothing was all I was willing to do.

Sunday scrimmage went very well.
Individual game results are:

North Tonawanda 1 - 48
Eastbrook - 20

West Central - 26
Mishawaka 1 - 31

North Tonawanda 1 -31
Mishawaka 1 -16

West Central -27
Eastbrook -23

North Tonawanda -12
Lapel/Woodstock -18 (Lapwood)

Mishawaka 2 -24
BenShroder -18

North Tonawanda 2 -16
BenShroder -38

North Tonawanda 2 -21
Lapel/Woodstock -18 (Lapwood)

Mishawaka 3 -24
NorthWest -11

Northwest -11
Mishawaka 3 -4

BenShroder is a combination of Ben Logan High School and Shroder High School from Ohio.
NorthWest is a combination of North Tonawanda, New York and West Central High schools.
Lapwood is a combination of Lapel, Woodstock, Michigan City.
Mishawaka 2 is a combination of Mishawaka and Manchester high schools.
Mishawaka 3 is a combination of Mishawaka and Manchester high schools.

As always new friendships have developed because of the mixing of schools. Friendships between players and coaches that hopefully will continue for many years.

Check out went extremely well. By noon almost everyone was on their way home. Some on chartered bus to New York, some on school buses to Mishawaka, but most in cars. Because of an error on the IWA web page one player waited for a couple of ours for his parents to arrive from Michigan City. The check out time had been posted then it was changed. However the change was not made on the web page. That was my mistake. I apologize to the camper and his parents for the error.

Everyone appeared to have a great time at all three sessions. Hopefully they all took home new skills, or improved skills that will help their team this year. A total of 418 players attended camp. They all indicated that they would return to next years camp. Those dates are:
June 10th to the 13th,
June 17th to the 20th,
and June 24th to the 27th.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone next year.

June 26, 2010

Forty-five minutes before practice the room next door to Coach DuBois and mine has a toilet over flowing. I've called the Conference staff for assistance, still waiting. As I'm waiting here one of the younger kids comes to the office door and tells me that one of his roommates has the key the door, he is locked out and he can't get in the room to get ready for practice. I told him to wait by the door and that he had to get ready for practice soon as well. I just say him and he was dressed for practice. His buddy must have arrived.

It's going to be hot and humid out there this afternoon. The rain is long past and the heat is building. Extra fluids a necessity this practice.

More later...

We just got back in from practice. It was warm but a mild wind helped a ton. It's 4:20 p.m. and we have 40 minutes before dinner. Dinner is outside in front of the Basketball complex. We are eating there tonight because another groups has a special dinner and presentation in the dining hall. The Basketball complex is right across the street from our dorm so it will work out just fine.

When we got back, the room that had the over flowing toilet had been cleaned and was ready for the players. We will try to finalize paper work plans for tomorrow tonight. Maybe we can get some preliminary back and loading done tonight. I've got a copier, two printers, three drawer cabinet of office needs, my computer, dirty clothes, clean clothes, bedding, etc to pack and load. Hopefully, I'll be on the road shortly after one o'clock local time. And if I don't need to stop and take a nap on the way home I could be home by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

That's it for now more later.......
June 26, 2010

The last day of practices before Scrimmage on Sunday. We had a quite night last night. The kids were settled in their rooms pretty quickly. Today is supposed to be hot and humid. The kids will need plenty of water today.

The line coaches were informed last night that they should have a drill for the last practice tonight. On the last practice, the linemen have linemen olympics. The drills are designed to lighten things up a little and have some fun. Coach DuBois is going to have races carrying the big stand up dummies. Coach Zayatz will have Sumo wrestling. Coach Chase is doing the Bag toss to see how far they can throw a big stand up dummy. Coach Buckmann will have chase races on the tubes. Coach Murray will do races through the chutes. The line has worked hard throughout camp and this allows them to have some fun and laugh at each other as they go through the Linemen Olympics.

We just finished the staff meeting and everyone will be going to the hill for practice at 9:00 a.m. this morning. Three more practices and the scrimmage. Session three is just about done.

More later.....
