Coaches,
On June 5th, the Indiana Option Camp, Inc. brain trust will meet to organize Camp 2010. Coach Copeland will travel from Ohio, Coach Prescott will travel from Knightstown, Coach Kiechle will travel from Lowell, and Coach Bridge will travel from Mexico (IN.) to Coach DuBois' home in Chili, Indiana. From 10:00 a.m. to aproximately 3:00 p.m. we will sift through the 450 plus registered campers. Each of the three sessions will be organized into teams. Schools that don't have complete teams will be combined with other schools to complete teams. The teams will be assigned a team name and color. Teams will consist of 15 to 20? players. Schools that have complete teams are usually organized by their coaches. This obviously makes it easy for us. We only have to assign name and jersey color.
We will also spend some time working on staff organization, practice planning and general camp operation. It has always been a labor of love. We throughly enjoy getting together for the camps. We get to see coaches that we haven't seen for a year. Everyone looks forward to the re-establishment of old friendships.
This is the 18th year that Indiana Option Camps has been in operation. Starting out with one session and 67 campers in 1993 to three sessions and nearly 500 campers in 2010 shows the growth and interest in Option football.

Indiana Wishbone Association

May 11, 2010

This is my first attempt at a blog. I hope that I'll be able to keep it up. I want to use this to keep a updates about the organization and activities.

During Option camp I'll try to keep updates about what is taking place at camp.

About the organization:
The Indiana Wishbone Association (www.iwafootball.org) started in 1986 at the Option Camp at University of Wisconsin River Falls. For several years a group of coaches from Indiana had been traveling to River Falls for their option camp. We had discussed forming this group for a couple of years. After further discussion the IWA was formed. Initially there were 26 members. Currently we have 92 active members. The organization produces a newsletter in January, March, June and August. The newsletter, the MESH POINT, has general information about the organization and articles written by the membership. As long as we have information and articles the Mesh Point will be published. If we don't have enough articles a given issue may not be published.
The organization has had members from England, Austrailia, and Canada. We have had members from 32 different states. The organization conducts a clinic on the first Saturday of May every year. We have speakers from both high schools and colleges. The clinic has always provided outstanding information on current option philosophy. It has included a continental breakfast, lunch and post clinic brauts and adult beverage for those that can stay longer along with great speakers. There is a great opportunity to sit down with the speakers and have indepth discussion about the days clinic talks.
In 1993, the IWA established the Indiana Option Camps, INC. We start conducting option camps at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. We started with one camp and 67 campers. Today we have three session in June accommodating approximately 450 campers. We have conducted a camp at Eureka College in Illinois and at Caravel Academy in Delaware. Every year we have campers that are also Indiana All Stars. We have teams attending camp from Canada, Florida, New York, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, New Hampshire, Michigan and of course Indiana.
We are currently preparing for Camp 2010. We anticipate that we will have all three sessions this year.
